I’m Ngọc, and I’ve spent thirteen years showing people around Vietnam — Hanoi with its wonderful food and crowded, breathless streets; Saigon, open and generous but always in a hurry; Đà Lạt in the highlands, green and quietly romantic. In each of them I looked for a place to build a life. None held me the way Huế does.
My love for Huế lives in small things: a coffee on a street corner in the late afternoon, a bowl of bún bò handed over from a cart in a narrow alley at sunrise. And in something larger, too — this is a city that carries a long, often painful history, yet somehow that history never takes away its quiet beauty.
History is also what I trained in: a degree from Hue University in 2011, then guiding from 2013 — more than a thousand tours by now, including years leading travellers across Central Vietnam for Audley Travel, with an International Tour Guide licence along the way. The Nguyễn Dynasty and the culture of Huế sit at the centre of that work — a city I know not from books alone, but from years lived inside its rhythms.
Vietnam Legacy Tours began in early 2026 with one idea: to share that Huế — and Central Vietnam more widely — the way a local feels their own home: unhurried. This is a land of two seasons, a very hot one and a very wet one; rather than fight the weather, I curate around it, so each day feels easy. A good tour, I’ve come to believe, isn’t made by the guide’s knowledge alone but by how the day is shaped — so that sometimes even silence tells its own story. That’s why a morning at Gia Long’s tomb includes a few quiet minutes with no commentary at all.
Today that philosophy runs through every Vietnam Legacy Tours route — along the heritage road from Quảng Trị through Huế and over the Hải Vân Pass to Hội An, and down to the piers of Chân Mây and Tiên Sa, where shore excursions are built backwards from a ship’s clock. Every guide who leads one of our days is someone I chose, briefed, and would happily hand my own guests to.
